iWatch upcoming Tech

Sony and start-up Pebble have released devices called 'Smart watches' because they take on some of the functions of a smartphone.  But if rumors are true smart watches is going to have an opponent Apple's much buzzed 'iWatch'

Smart Watch

The functions may change in the future, but for now the Smart watches have delivery notifications, telling users when they've received text and email messages, showing the caller ID for incoming calls and alerting users to new Facebook or Twitter posts.  Smart watches are accessories to smartphones.  Some have touch screens and run applications, but they're designed mainly to allow users to interact with or view information from their phones.  Instead of having their own connection to the Internet, they connect to user's smartphones via Bluetooth.  They also allow users to control apps on their phones.

On June 25, Sony unveiled its newest smartwatch: the Sony SmartWatch 2, which is a water-resistant, NFC-toting Android phone companion.

According to Bloomberg, Apple has a team of around 100 designers working on "a wristwatch-like device that may perform some of the tasks now handled by the iPhone and iPad".  The team includes people from all parts of Apple: not just iPad and iPhone engineers but software developers, managers and marketers too - plus what seems to be a biometric 'A-Team' that will endow the iWatch with sleep analysis, fingerprint scanners and other health-related sensors.

Release date

Until now We don't have a clear idea of the release date of iWatch and what will be the cost of iWatch.  There have been reports the iWatch may cost about $250 (£165 / AU$240/15000 INR)
In April, Tim Cook promised "some really great stuff coming in the fall and across all of 2014",  that may be a hint for the much anticipated iWatch. While in June another analyst claimed the probability of having iWatch launched by the second half of 2013

Possible Features of iWatch

  • The iWatch features could include authentication, NFC, home automation and flying cars
  • The iWatch may have Siri, and Maps, and health monitoring
  • The iWatch may have Bluetooth and a 1.5-inch display
  • The iWatch has curved Gorilla Glass
